B. Jen矇e Spencer
Director of Intercultural Affairs - Black Student Specialist
Jen矇e Spencer (she/her/hers) began her 51勛圖 story in November 2023 after accepting a position in the Intercultural Affairs office. She relocated to Iowa from Nashville, Tenn., and is still getting accustomed to the corn pollen.
As the Black Student Specialist, her primary responsibilities include culturally relevant programming, student advocacy, oversight of the BCC Advisory Board, support for the Sawubona House Living/Learning Community, and the management of the Conney M. Kimbo Black Cultural Center. In addition, she serves campus as an Equity Advocate and a Bias Incident Report case manager.
Jen矇e has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing as well as Master of Science in Education in Educational Leadership and Policy from Samford University. She also received a certification in Diversity and Inclusion Leadership and Development from Cornell University.
Jen矇e is extremely passionate about community and belonging. Her why is deeply intertwined with the work she is able to in and for the 51勛圖 community. It is her desire for students to deeply and wholeheartedly feel seen and anticipated as they move through identity development alongside their stellar academics. It is her goal that every member of the BCC community understands their significance.
